Sue Howells has enjoyed great success, winning the Soloman and Whitehead Award in 2008, followed in the same year by being recognised by the Fine Art Trade Guild of Great Britain as the best selling published artist in the U.K.
In 2013 she was awarded the Purchase Prize at the Royal Watercolour Society competition at Bankside Gallery. Followed by the Alec Morrison Award at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists in the same year.
Also a member of the Society of Women Artists, and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, she has shown work at the New English Art Club and the R.B.A
Sue has also had work shown at the 2014 and 2015 Summer Exhibitions at the Royal Academy
Sue Howells is known for her interpretation of landscapes and buildings, she has developed a bold and vivid style to express her view of the world and bring perspective to her paintings. Sue paints in watercolours, maintaining her energy and colours by using an economy of brush strokes. She works as loosely as possible as watercolours can be controlled but never bullied.
Since 2000, Sue has exhibited annually at the Royal Institute of Painters, Mall Gallery, London, the Womans Society of Artists, Westminster Gallery, London and Bankside Gallery, London.
In 2018 she was elected as a full member of the Royal Watercolour Society .
